Yvonne Whittle and Lynnaire Hampton won the Monday afternoon Royal Tournament. Both Yvonne and Lynnaire have been long time members of the club and are pretty sharp at the bridge table.

Alison and Mike Williamson won our Thursday night Swiss pairs. It was a tight race to the finish but the Williamsons had that chemistry to pull it off.

From the committee meeting held yesterday

We have our 60th birthday in January and by a majority vote the committee has decided that the Napier Restricted Pairs Tournament in February will have a name change to recognise the Diamond Anniversary. We will not have any other functions that weekend.

Due to a few security concerns the committee is looking at the subject of security. In recent weeks the Napier City Council have replaced lights in the car park. Our security people are in the car park on Tuesdays and Thursdays. What we will do regarding security is still being worked through.

Tournaments

Women’s Refuge (Now Family V I P) were thrilled with the support we gave them with the baskets of toiletries and a cash donation. Thanks to Sylvia and Henny for organising the tournament and four luck people won raffle prized, put together by Sylvia with product from Pak N Save and topped up with more goodies. If you have no use for the basket your raffle came in, it can be returned to the club for another day.

We hope to see a good turnout at the Napier Open tournament on Saturday. Quickly do your entry on-line. There will be good prize money and fab food.

Our new life members

A number of people who could not get to our SGM have asked for a copy of presentations about the new life members. Sadly, Francey was sick and did not attend the SGM, so last Friday at bridge she received her recognition.

Cheers
